Matt has always had an interest in the Bigfoot phenonema. From a young age, seeing the Legend of Boggy Creek in a local movie theater, he has had the drive to learn more. In 1985, Matt's mother had a Class A sighting in Pennsylvania that just solidified his quest to find answers.

From the early crypto internet days in the late 1990's and early 2000's, Matt maintained his interest and kept track of several sightings in the Pennsylvania region.

In 2006, Matt partnered with a local paranormal group and introduced them to the Bigfoot phenomena. In doing so, Matt led several small scale expeditions in the Schuylkill and Carbon county areas.

In 2013, Matt attended the PBS fall outing at Parker Dam State Park. At that time, Matt met with several other great investigators from Pennsylvania, such as Eric Altman and Sean Forker.

Since that time, Matt has belonged to the PBS and KBP, along with doing his own investigations. Matt operates a facebook page, Youtube channel and twitter account under the name "Cryptic Wilderness". Matt tries to blend Bigfoot, paranormal, folklore and wilderness advocacy. Matt is also an associate member of the North American Wood Ape Conservancy and has attended BFRO expeditions in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas.

In his career, Matt has been a police officer for 18 years and assigned as a detective for the last 5 years. Matt is a certified crime scene technician and has extensive experience at interviews and body language interpretation.

His primary style of investigation is to do follow ups with witnesses and search for potential evidence. In areas where he is researching without a direct witness, he prefers to research in a passive way - preparing cameras, audio recordings and hair traps.
